Top Nigerian pharmacy leaders reaffirmed the country’s growing influence on the global pharmaceutical stage as they participated in the just concluded 19th Annual Conference and Exposition of the Nigerian Association of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (NAPPSA), held in Chicago, USA on September 25 to 28.

The delegation, led by Pharm. Tanko Ibrahim Ayuba, President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), included Pharm. (Prof.) Cyril Odianose Usifoh, immediate past PSN President; Pharm. Olumide Akintayo, past PSN President; and Pharm. Valentine Okelu, CEO of Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc, alongside a Nigerian ally.

Themed “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence in Pharmaceutical Development and Healthcare Delivery,” the 2025 conference explored the transformative impact of technology on the pharmacy profession and healthcare systems across continents.

Pharm. Ayuba emphasized that partnerships like NAPPSA’s are vital to building a future-ready, globally competitive pharmacy workforce, while Prof. Usifoh highlighted the role of AI in improving drug formulation and regulatory systems. Pharm. Akintayo noted that international collaboration fosters shared learning, and Pharm. Okelu described the conference as a bridge linking academia, innovation, and industry.

Their collective presence, alongside global pharmacy leaders, reflected Nigeria’s deepening ties with the diaspora and its commitment to advancing innovation, research, and professional excellence in healthcare delivery.
