Prof. Peace Babalola to Deliver Keynote Address at DABO 2025

Renowned scholar and pharmaceutical chemist, Prof. Peace Chinedum Babalola, immediate past Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, has been announced as the Keynote Speaker for the 98th Annual National Conference of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN).

The event, themed “Pharmacy Forward: Building a Future-Ready Workforce for Performance, Collaboration and Transformation," is scheduled to hold from November 3 to 8, 2025, at the Convocation Hall, Bayero University, Kano.

Announcing her selection at the pre-conference briefing held at PSN Secretariat in Lagos, the PSN President, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, said Prof. Babalola’s role as keynote speaker underscores the Society’s commitment to intellectual excellence, innovation, and the advancement of pharmaceutical science in Nigeria.

“Our keynote speaker, Prof. Peace Babalola, an accomplished scholar from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, and a respected leader in academia and research, will help set the tone for forward-thinking discussions,” Pharm. Ibrahim stated.

“Her depth of scholarship and experience in pharmaceutical education will inspire and challenge participants as we map a pathway toward a future-ready pharmacy workforce.”

Prof. Babalola, a distinguished academic and one of Nigeria’s foremost scientists, is celebrated for her groundbreaking work in drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacogenomics. As the first female Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, she championed a research-driven vision that strengthened the institution’s contributions to pharmaceutical and biomedical innovation.

Her invitation as keynote speaker at DABO 2025 highlights her enduring influence in the field of pharmaceutical education and her passion for building bridges between research, clinical practice, and policy reform.

Speaking further, Pharm. Ibrahim emphasized that DABO 2025 will not only celebrate the strides of Nigerian pharmacists but also chart a course for future collaborations and innovations within the health sector. “Prof. Babalola’s insights will resonate strongly with our theme this year. She embodies the spirit of excellence, service, and transformation that the PSN stands for,” Ibrahim added.

As the pharmaceutical community looks forward to the Kano gathering, Prof. Babalola’s keynote address is expected to be one of the major highlights of the conference—setting the tone for strategic conversations on workforce preparedness, collective practive and transformational change across community, hospital, industrial and academic pharmacy practice in Nigeria and beyond.
