The Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan, has officially joined the growing list of tertiary institutions across Nigeria participating in the Geneith Health Competition (GHC) — a national initiative designed to empower students as key advocates in the fight against malaria.

The school confirmed its participation ahead of the official endorsement ceremony scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, within the institution’s premises.

The Geneith Health Competition, a collaborative project of CEOAFRICA and Geneith Pharmaceuticals Limited, seeks to promote malaria awareness, education, and prevention among students of secondary and tertiary institutions nationwide. The transformative program also offers over ₦1 billion worth of scholarships, prizes, and educational support to participating students across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking on the development, the Rector of the Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan, Mrs. Mercy Olugu, expressed delight at the institution’s decision to onboard the initiative, describing it as a timely and life-changing opportunity for Nigerian students.

“We are proud to be part of this movement that not only equips our students with vital health knowledge but also empowers them to be active agents of change in their communities,” Mrs. Olugu said. “It took a lot of careful consideration, and we are convinced that this initiative aligns perfectly with our mission of building informed, responsible citizens.”

The Initiator of the Geneith Health Competition and CEO of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, commended the school’s leadership for embracing the vision of the program.

“The Federal School of Statistics has shown remarkable commitment by enrolling all its students in this transformative initiative,” Prince Ilobanafor stated. “Their participation underscores the growing recognition that tackling malaria begins with education, engagement, and empowerment.”

The upcoming flag-off ceremony will formally mark the school’s entry into the nationwide campaign, as students are set to receive registration access and begin their journey as Malaria Ambassadors under the GHC framework.
