The College of the Immaculate Conception (CIC) Enugu Class of 1994 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 held its 30th Anniversary Reunion Summit at the Andover Hotel, Independence Layout, Enugu, bringing together reverend fathers, former teachers, alumni, and dignitaries in an atmosphere of nostalgia, tributes, and renewed commitment to preserving the legacy of the institution.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee (CPC), Pharm. (Sir) Bankole Aminu Ezebuilo, National Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Industrial Pharmacists (NAIP) and CEO of Kayhelt Pharma Ltd, delivered a heartfelt address reflecting on the enduring values of the school and the spirit of brotherhood that has defined the Class of ’94.
He began by paying tribute to the President of the CIC Class of ’94, Engr. Emenike Ukoha, describing him as a leader “whose dedication and steady guidance have continued to inspire the class.”
According to him: “A leader is often described as one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. Our President embodies this fully. His commitment, humility, and unwavering spirit of brotherhood speak volumes of his character.”
Ezebuilo also celebrated the event’s Chairman and President of the CIC Alumni International, Hon. Sam Ogbu Nwobodo, praising him as “a man of dignity, vision, and unwavering commitment to public service,” noting that his leadership reflects the finest values of the institution.
The CPC Chairman further highlighted the significance of the reunion, describing it as a moment not just to reconnect but to “honour the bond that time has tested and strengthened.”
He offered a deeply emotional reflection on the school’s impact on generations of students, emphasizing gratitude to the College of the Immaculate Conception for the discipline, excellence and moral grounding it instilled.
“Thirty years ago, we walked out of the gates of CIC as young men armed with dreams and courage. Today, we return not merely to celebrate time, but to honour the bond that shaped us,” he said.
Ezebuilo delivered a moving tribute to the school’s iconic former principal, Mr. Chukwu, fondly known as “Jungle”, describing him as “a disciplinarian with a father’s heart” whose leadership style transformed thousands of students.
He recalled the principal’s famous phrases and moments that defined their era, adding with emotion, “Mr. Chukwu was not just a principal—he is a legacy. May his brave and noble soul rest in perfect peace.”
The reunion was also filled with moments of nostalgia as the Chairman reminded the audience of the mischief, lessons, and memorable traditions that characterized their days—from “Aganwu,” the famous escape route, to “Campus Two,” and the legendary Okpa Nwanyị Enugu-Ukwu served with cold Reno drink.
He noted that these memories formed the tapestry of their shared identity, adding: “Each old boy carries a piece of CIC wherever he finds himself. The spirit we formed here still drives us to build, to give back, and to uphold the name that shaped us.” Ezebuilo also acknowledged the commitment of his committee members for putting the event together, describing their work as “exemplary” and “driven by unity of purpose.”
The event concluded with a renewed call for alumni to continue upholding the school’s enduring values of discipline, integrity, faith, and excellence. “As we celebrate thirty years of friendship and growth, let us march forward with the same zeal that once made us sing with pride: ‘Onward, march on, boys of C.I.C., to glory!’” Ezebuilo said.
