Hilda Baci, Nigerian celebrity chef has officially received her second Guinness World Record plaque, recognising her feat of cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

According to the record, which has been verified by Guinness World Records, Baci made 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a sizable picnic in Lagos in September.

The accomplishment comes just over a year after Baci made headlines around the world in May 2023 when she finished a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon and won her first Guinness World Record.

The 29-year-old is now the first and most awarded chef in Nigeria to have two Guinness World Records.

Hilda Baci shared pictures of her new plaque on Instagram and talked about how resilient and purposeful her path has been. “Two records.” Two plaques. One tale of history, faith, and fire. We made history for Nigeria twice,” she wrote.

Still on the milestone, she “highlights Nigeria’s creativity and culinary influence globally.”

Baci advised her followers to have faith in their time and purpose, citing Isaiah 61:7 to support her claim that her experience represented the promise of getting “a double portion instead of shame.”

Over 20,000 people attended the jollof rice picnic, which included influencers and celebrities. All servings were given to participants and charitable organizations in compliance with Guinness verification guidelines.

Baci’s standing as a cultural icon and Nigerian culinary ambassador is further reinforced by her honour.
