Chief John Nnia Nwodo, CON, is a renowed lawyer, economist, and statesman whose remarkable career in public service and national leadership spans several decades. A man of profound intellect, vision, and patriotism, Chief Nwodo has served Nigeria in various strategic capacities — notably as Special Assistant to President Shehu Shagari, Minister of Civil Aviation, and later Minister of Information and Culture — where he contributed immensely to national development and policy reform.
In 2017, he was elected the 9th President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex socio-cultural organisation of the Igbo nation. His tenure was marked by an unwavering commitment to unity, justice, and regional advancement, as well as a bold advocacy for restructuring, inclusivity, and sustainable national dialogue.

His eloquence, intellect, and enduring passion for equity have continued to define him as one of Nigeria’s most respected voices in governance, constitutional reform, and civic enlightenment.
Chief Nwodo remains a beacon of statesmanship and moral clarity — a man whose words inspire reflection, and whose leadership continues to shape conversations around national unity, justice, and progress.
