Renowned scholar and Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Olawale Albert, has conveyed a deeply moving condolence message to Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, Managing Director/CEO of CEOAFRICA, following the passing of his father, Chief Ogbuefi Clement Nwagbogu Ilobanafor who passed on June 22, at the age of 93.
In the heartfelt letter dated 15 November 2025, Prof. Albert wrote that he had “received the heartrending news of the passing of Prince Cletus beloved father, Chief Ogbuefi Clement Ilobanafor, with deep sorrow and a heavy heart.” Addressing him as “My Dear Prince and brother,” he emphasized that although words often fall short in moments of profound loss, he felt compelled to extend his sincerest sympathies.
Prof. Albert celebrated the late Ogbuefi Ilobanafor as “a rare gem among men — a father not only to his children, but to all of us who had the privilege to know him.” He highlighted the warmth and openness the late patriarch was known for, noting that “his home was a sanctuary where love and laughter always dwelled.”
According to him: “His warmth transcended boundaries; he welcomed everyone with an open heart and treated each person as his own. To many of us, he became a guiding figure, a gentle mentor, and a source of comfort.”
Reflecting on the late chief’s personality, Prof. Albert praised his memorable sense of humour and storytelling, writing:
“One of Baba’s most memorable qualities was his wit. His stories, laced with humour and wisdom, could light up even the darkest day. He had a way of making everyone feel at ease and adding joy to any gathering. The delight he brought to those around him will be treasured and remembered for years to come.”
He encouraged the family to hold tightly to their cherished memories and drew attention to the lasting impact of the late patriarch’s virtues: “His legacy of kindness, joy, and steadfast love will live on in all those whose lives he touched.”
Prof. Albert concluded his letter with prayers for comfort and strength: “It is my heartfelt prayer that the good Lord will console you, your siblings, and every member of your family during this period of grief. May God’s comfort envelop you all and grant you strength to carry on.”
With this tribute, Prof. Albert joins the growing list of community leaders, respected figures and colleagues honouring the life and legacy of Chief Ogbuefi Clement Nwagbogu Ilobanafor, a man fondly remembered for his generosity, wisdom, and enduring influence on his community.
