CEOAFRICA celebrates Prof. Aina Adeogun on her birthday, hails her as a trailblazer in science and academic leadership

CEOAFRICA has joined the global scientific and academic community in celebrating Professor Aina O. Adeogun, FAS, Head of the Department of Zoology, University of Ibadan, and Coordinator of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Ibadan Branch, on the occasion of her birthday.

Professor Adeogun is widely regarded as a distinguished scholar whose career has been defined by excellence in teaching, groundbreaking research, and unwavering commitment to capacity building within Nigeria’s academic space. Over the years, she has played a pivotal role in advancing scientific knowledge, nurturing young researchers, and championing the inclusion and empowerment of women in science.

Through her leadership at the University of Ibadan and her coordination of the OWSD Ibadan Branch, Prof. Adeogun has continued to provide platforms for mentorship, collaboration, and global scientific engagement, particularly for women scientists in developing countries. Her work has strengthened the culture of research, innovation, and ethical scholarship within and beyond the Nigerian university system.

In a birthday goodwill message, CEOAFRICA boss, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, described Prof. Adeogun as an academic icon whose impact cuts across generations.

“Professor Aina Adeogun is a symbol of excellence, resilience, and purposeful leadership in science. Her dedication to research, education, and the empowerment of women continues to inspire both emerging and established scholars. On behalf of the CEOAFRICA family, we celebrate her remarkable life and legacy,” Ilobanafor said.

He further noted that Professor Adeogun’s contributions to national and international scientific discourse reflect a deep commitment to societal development and knowledge advancement.
