United States President Donald Trump said it is “too late” for Iran to pursue negotiations, despite signals from Tehran suggesting interest in talks.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Iran’s military leadership and defense capabilities had been largely destroyed and dismissed the possibility of renewed discussions.

Speaking at the White House during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump said joint US-Israeli strikes had caused extensive damage, stating that “just about everything’s been knocked out.”

Trump also claimed Iran had been preparing to attack before the US-Israeli action, contradicting earlier remarks by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who had suggested Israel initiated the conflict. Trump said he may have “forced Israel’s hand” to prevent a preemptive Iranian strike.

Addressing concerns about regime change, Trump warned that a worst-case outcome would be the rise of a new leader similar to Iran’s late Supreme Leader **Ali Khamenei**. He further claimed that individuals previously considered potential successors had been killed in the strikes.
