Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has officially obtained his membership card of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during a party event in Anambra State, signaling a potential political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, received the membership card on Saturday during the flag-off ceremony of the ADC’s registration and mobilization exercise in the state. The event drew party members, supporters, and stakeholders from different parts of Anambra.

His move comes amid earlier speculation about a possible return to the Labour Party, under which he contested the 2023 presidential election.

Obi had previously declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, stating that he would not be intimidated by the growing number of governors currently aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also revealed that several attempts had been made to discourage him from joining the race but maintained that he remains resolute and will not be deterred from pursuing his political ambition.
