The President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, has lauded the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for what he described as a sweeping transformation of the state’s healthcare system and critical infrastructure.

Speaking CEOAFRICA on arrival in Yola for the 2026 PSN Colloquium, Ibrahim said the visible pace of development under the Fintiri administration reflects a model of purposeful leadership and strategic governance. He noted that the scale and quality of ongoing and completed projects have significantly elevated the state’s profile, positioning Yola as an emerging modern urban centre.

“I sincerely commend the Governor for his foresight in driving economic growth through infrastructural excellence,” he stated, adding that the administration’s investments have created a functional blend of urban development and an improving healthcare ecosystem.

The PSN President further highlighted the administration’s deliberate efforts to reform and strengthen the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, describing them as aligned with the professional body’s vision of a secure and efficient health system. According to him, such interventions are gradually restoring confidence in Nigeria’s healthcare delivery.

Corroborating this position, former PSN President, Olumide Akintayo, said prioritising healthcare is a clear indication that a leader values human life and understands the centrality of a sound health system to sustainable development. He described the pharmaceutical sector as the backbone of effective healthcare delivery, noting that Fintiri’s policies reflect both strategic intent and compassion.

Also speaking, immediate past PSN President and keynote speaker, Cyril Odianose Usifoh, commended the state government for creating an enabling environment capable of hosting high-level scientific and professional engagements. He said the calibre of participants at the colloquium underscores growing national confidence in Adamawa State.

On the policy direction of the reforms, the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Pharmaceutical Matters, Nwaka Ohuama, disclosed that the state is strategically positioning itself as a sub-Saharan hub for medical tourism.

“We are not just treating patients; we are building a global healthcare brand,” he said, pointing to ongoing investments in medical infrastructure and systems strengthening.

Governor Fintiri, in his remarks, assured the PSN delegation of the state’s readiness to host a seamless and world-class colloquium, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to partnerships that will deepen healthcare delivery and expand access to safe, quality medicines.

The PSN leadership, in turn, pledged full support for the administration’s health sector reforms, expressing optimism that the ongoing transformation in Adamawa could serve as a template for other states. They also wished the Governor continued success, noting that sustained investments in healthcare and infrastructure remain critical to long-term development and improved quality of life for citizens.
