Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of proceedings on his bail application.

El-Rufai arrived at the court premises at approximately 9:00 a.m., with security significantly heightened. A combined team of police officers and operatives of the Department of State Services was deployed to maintain order.

The hearing follows an adjournment on Tuesday by the presiding judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa, after a series of legal exchanges between the defence and prosecution.

Counsel to the former governor, led by Ubong Akpan, had earlier filed a motion requesting the judge to recuse himself over allegations of bias. However, the application was subsequently withdrawn, contributing to procedural delays in the case.

In response, the prosecution filed a counter-affidavit opposing the grant of bail, leaving the defence with limited time to reply. This development prompted the court to adjourn proceedings to Wednesday.

El-Rufai is facing multiple charges brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, including allegations of fraud, money laundering, and unlawful possession of public funds.
