The Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) has successfully concluded its 2026 Oyo Mega Poultry Workshop, a high-level industry convergence aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s poultry sector for sustainable growth and long-term economic impact.

Held from March 24 to 25, 2026, at Poultry Haven, Ajia Road, Elerumoke, Egbeda in Ibadan, the workshop was convened under the theme, “Sustaining the Future: Positioning Poultry Farmers for Generational Impact.” The event brought together policymakers, agribusiness leaders, investors, and poultry farmers in a concerted effort to redefine the industry’s trajectory.

Over two days, stakeholders engaged in robust discussions centered on transitioning Nigeria’s poultry industry from fragmented subsistence operations into a structured, multi-billion-naira agribusiness ecosystem. The gathering underscored the sector’s pivotal role in national food security and its substantial contribution to agricultural GDP.

Dignitaries in attendance included the Chairman of PAN Oyo State Chapter, Elder Oyekunle Omidokun Okediji; PAN Director General, Mr. Onallo Akpan; Group Managing Director of Amo Farms, Dr. Ayoola Oduntan; and agribusiness strategist, Mr. Ayooluwa Okediji, alongside key government representatives and institutional investors.

In his remarks, Elder Okediji emphasized the imperative of industry-wide coordination, noting that a unified framework remains essential to achieving predictable markets and enduring profitability. He further called for a strategic shift from low-yield indigenous breeds to climate-resilient, high-performance stock capable of meeting both domestic and export demands.

Reinforcing government’s commitment, State Project Coordinator, Mrs. Adeola Olufunke Ekundayo, highlighted ongoing efforts to create an enabling environment that mitigates risks and attracts investment into the sector. She described the workshop as timely, aligning with broader economic diversification policies aimed at unlocking agricultural potential, boosting internally generated revenue, and expanding employment opportunities. She also reaffirmed Oyo State’s status as Nigeria’s poultry hub and urged farmers to embrace environmentally sustainable practices.

A major highlight of the workshop was the unveiling of PANOY Agribusiness Limited, alongside updates on the development of the PANOY International Poultry Village and Conference Center—an ambitious initiative designed to serve as a nucleus for innovation, training, and industry collaboration.

Speaking in an exclusive interaction with CEOAFRICA, organizers reiterated that the workshop was conceived as a knowledge-sharing and capacity-building platform to empower farmers, particularly young entrants, with the technical and entrepreneurial skills required to thrive in a modern poultry economy.

Further amplifying the call for structural reform, Mr. Ayooluwa Okediji stressed the need for poultry enterprises to evolve beyond family-owned models into scalable, professionally managed institutions. He advocated for a broader definition of success—one that integrates profitability with social impact, environmental stewardship, and intergenerational continuity. He also highlighted the growing importance of digital tools and farm management technologies in enhancing productivity and market access.

Delivering a keynote perspective, Mr. Onallo Akpan described the workshop as a strategic movement toward strengthening the poultry value chain through collaboration and investment. In the same vein, Dr. Oduntan urged stakeholders to adopt data-driven production systems and stringent biosecurity protocols aligned with global export standards.

The workshop concluded on a note of renewed commitment, with participants collectively emphasizing the synergy between cooperative action and strategic investment as the cornerstone of sectoral transformation. Backed by leading industry sponsors—including Amo Byng Nigeria Limited, Obasanjo Farms Nigeria, Fidan Cheeky Chicks, and L-Hope Limited—the summit has set a clear pathway for building a resilient, globally competitive poultry industry capable of delivering lasting economic and generational value.
