Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola has called on Nigerians to embrace acts of love, selfless sacrifice, and spiritual renewal as the nation marks the 2026 Easter celebration

The renowned academic and administrator from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, described Easter as the most significant event in the Christian calendar, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which she identified as the cornerstone of the Christian faith.

The erudite professor of pharmacy made this known in an exclusive chat with CEOAFRICA on EASTER celebration.

She noted that the season represents the ultimate demonstration of divine grace and a lasting symbol of hope for humanity, emphasizing that through faith, trials are overcome and love ultimately prevails over strife.

She urged Christians to look beyond the festivities and reflect on the deeper meaning of the season, describing it as a reminder of God’s power to transform lives and circumstances. According to her, Easter signifies the triumph of light over darkness, life over death, and hope over despair, and remains a season marked by the manifestation of God’s love, salvation, and supernatural power.

Prof. Babalola further stressed that the Christian journey demands a deliberate commitment to the virtues exemplified by Christ, including sacrifice, obedience, and love. She noted that believers are called to live out these values daily, ensuring that their actions align with their professed faith. She highlighted Christ’s enduring compassion, even in the face of death, as a standard for all Christians to emulate.

Reflecting on the significance of the crucifixion and resurrection, she described the passion of Christ as the fulfillment of God’s redemptive purpose, through which mercy was extended to humanity. She added that the resurrection ushered in a new phase of divine liberty, unbound by earthly limitations, symbolizing victory over the grave.

Drawing a connection to Nigeria’s current realities, Prof. Babalola emphasized that resilience, sacrifice, and collective responsibility are essential for national progress. She noted that the principles of redemption and renewal, central to Easter, provide a guiding framework for building stronger communities and fostering unity, adding that meaningful transformation requires a willingness to endure for the greater good.

Addressing the nation’s challenges, she encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in faith and hopeful for the future, expressing confidence in the country’s ability to overcome its difficulties. She likened this to the biblical account of the stone being rolled away from the tomb, stressing that even in the darkest moments, hope must be sustained.

She also called on citizens to act as their brother’s keeper and support ongoing efforts to restore peace and security across the country, maintaining that unity remains critical to overcoming present challenges and that lasting progress often emerges from periods of adversity.

Prof. Babalola concluded by urging Nigerians to embody the spirit of Easter through acts of love and selfless sacrifice, noting that the season reflects the victory of light over darkness and offers both divine strength and renewal. She also offered prayers for blessings and extended her goodwill to Christians across the country, wishing them a peaceful and fulfilling Easter celebration.
