Air passengers traveling through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja are expected to experience boarding delays following the announcement of a temporary disruption affecting domestic flight operations.
Airport management disclosed on Monday that the disruption is linked to baggage processing challenges at the domestic terminals. According to an operational update, a technical fault in the baggage screening equipment has slowed down standard processing procedures, leading to longer turnaround times.
The management acknowledged the inconvenience caused to passengers and appealed for patience while efforts are underway to resolve the issue.
To mitigate the impact, the airport has activated alternative screening procedures using available equipment to ensure that flight operations continue safely. However, officials warned that the additional measures could result in extended processing times and possible delays to some departures.
Ground personnel have been deployed to assist passengers, provide timely updates, and prioritise affected flights. The airport authority also stated that it is working closely with relevant stakeholders to fix the technical problem and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
Management reassured passengers that all necessary steps are being taken to minimise disruptions to travel plans and expressed regret over the inconvenience. Further updates are expected as the situation improves.
