The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced the closure of sales of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants seeking to contest the presidency on the platform of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party, however, extended the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants vying for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions from May 17 to May 24, 2026.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Mr Ikenna Enekweizu.

According to the statement, screening of aspirants who have purchased and completed the Expression of Interest Forms will commence on Tuesday and end on May 26.

The party added that the collection and submission of Nomination Forms for aspirants who successfully scale the screening process will begin on Wednesday and close on May 26.

The NDC stressed that no further extension would be granted beyond the new deadline and urged aspirants to adhere strictly to the party’s guidelines and timetable.

It directed all aspirants to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues nationwide with relevant documents, including educational certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, passport photographs, voter’s identification card, NDC membership card, and curriculum vitae.

According to the statement, all documents submitted for screening must be provided in six copies.

The party stated that the screening process would be guided by the wishes of the electorate, local political considerations, the competence and capacity of aspirants, as well as their character and integrity.

It further noted that the Screening Committee would take into account the party’s affirmative action policy for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities.

The NDC also encouraged aspirants to embrace consensus-building, noting that only aspirants cleared by the Screening Committee would be eligible to purchase Nomination Forms.
