At least 10 passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries on Monday morning following a road crash involving a Honda vehicle and two commercial tricycles along Ipaja Road in Lagos State.
The accident occurred at about 8:50 a.m. at the Federal Bus Stop when the Honda vehicle, with registration number KTU 921 JY, reportedly lost control after the driver attempted to avoid a street sweeper employed by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).
Eyewitnesses said the female driver was allegedly speeding before striking the sweeper, after which the vehicle veered across the road and collided head-on with two tricycles approaching from the opposite lane.
The impact left multiple passengers injured, with some sustaining serious injuries while others suffered minor wounds.
Emergency responders and bystanders initially rushed the victims to a nearby private hospital for treatment before several were later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for further medical attention.
Personnel from the Gowon Police Division, officials of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), neighbourhood watch groups, and operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were deployed to the scene to restore order, manage traffic, and coordinate rescue efforts.
Authorities had yet to issue an official statement as of press time, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
