Popular singer, Davido has called out Gboyega Oyetola, the former governor of Osun state, accusing him of political desperation.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, the Grammy-nominated singer launched a scathing attack on Oyetola, describing him as the “most desperate politician in the world”.
“The most desperate politician in the world is @GboyegaOyetola very embarrass,” he wrote.
In another post, Davido accused Oyetola, the current minister of marine and blue economy, of plotting trouble in the state, adding: “OYETOLA UR PLAN NO GO WORK”.
The singer’s outburst comes amid rising political tension in Osun state ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The Accord Party alleged that thugs linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) attacked the campaign office of Ademola Adeleke, the Osun governor, and the party’s secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital.
Maxwell Mgbuden, national chairman of Accord, said the attack was the second assault on the governor’s campaign office within two weeks.
Mgbuden said armed men allegedly shot sporadically at the building, shattering glass windows and damaging several offices, including that of Victor Akande, chairman of Accord in Osun.
He added that the attackers inscribed “Say no to automatic ticket” on the wall of the building, accusing the opposition party of attempting to destabilise the state.
In April, Davido was appointed the head of youth mobilisation for the Accord Party’s campaign council, weeks after joining the party.
He recently inaugurated the Imole youth mobilisation campaign council.
