Minister of Works, David Umahi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure overwhelming support in Ebonyi State in the 2027 general election, predicting that the president could receive up to 95 percent of the votes cast in the state.

Umahi made the remarks during an inspection tour of the ongoing Abaomoge/Akpoha/Afikpo road project in Ebonyi State, where he pledged to work closely with Governor Francis Nwifuru to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The former Ebonyi State governor attributed his optimism to what he described as the unprecedented scale of infrastructure development currently being executed in the state and across the South-East under the Tinubu administration.

According to him, no previous administration has undertaken projects of similar magnitude in the region, adding that political leaders in the South-East should openly acknowledge and support the president’s efforts.

Umahi said Ebonyi State would embark on an extensive mobilisation campaign for Tinubu in appreciation of the federal government’s investments in the region.

He also dismissed longstanding claims of marginalisation in the South-East, arguing that the region now occupies strategic positions within the federal government. He cited his appointment as Minister of Works as evidence of the president’s confidence in the South-East.

The minister maintained that the level of federal infrastructure projects across the region speaks for itself and insisted that the achievements of the current administration are visible and verifiable.

Umahi further described the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in the South-East as an anomaly, expressing confidence that the voting pattern would change in future elections.

He urged young people and professionals in Ebonyi State to take advantage of what he called a strategic opportunity to align with the federal government for the long-term development and advancement of the region.
