The first group of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa following recent xenophobic attacks has arrived in Lagos.

A total of 268 returnees landed at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport aboard an Air Peace flight.

The evacuation forms part of ongoing efforts to repatriate Nigerians affected by renewed violence targeting foreign nationals in South Africa.
