Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has criticized the national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Seriake Dickson, following his recent appearance in a televised interview.
In a post shared on her verified X account on Thursday, Yesufu accused Dickson of acting as though he is in a rivalry with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Her comments came in response to Dickson’s interview in which he defended the party’s leadership structure and reacted to criticisms reportedly raised by some supporters of Obi after the party’s primaries.
She wrote: “You seem to be in a competition with the NDC presidential candidate. No one is challenging your leadership of the party.
The focus should be on securing victory in the 2027 elections and addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
There is a whole battle ahead of us. Rescuing Nigeria from the current state it is in should be the main focus, not people’s fragile ego!”
Her remarks emphasized the need for unity within the party and a stronger focus on the 2027 general elections rather than internal disagreements.
