President Bola Tinubu has applauded the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies following a successful operation in Kogi State that resulted in the elimination of a notorious bandit leader, Ibrahim Bastuji.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the operation as a major victory in the fight against criminal gangs responsible for terrorising communities in Kogi State and surrounding areas.
Tinubu noted that Bastuji had been linked to numerous acts of violence, kidnappings, and attacks on innocent civilians, which caused significant suffering among residents. He said the successful operation would help restore confidence and bring relief to affected communities.
“I congratulate our gallant troops on this remarkable achievement. Nigeria will not cede any part of its territory to criminals. Those who choose violence against innocent citizens will find no refuge. This success demonstrates the renewed commitment of our security forces to protecting every part of our nation,” the President said.
The statement also revealed that the President commended security personnel for another successful operation that secured the release of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, widow of the late former Chief of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd).
According to Tinubu, the rescue operation highlighted the professionalism, courage, and effectiveness of the nation’s security agencies in tackling criminal activities.
“The safe return of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar is a great relief to her family and the nation. I commend the intelligence gathering, coordination, and bravery displayed by the officers and men involved in the operation. Nigerians remain grateful to our troops who put their lives on the line every day to ensure our safety,” he said.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the Armed Forces through improved resources, training, and operational support to combat banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of violent crime.
He also called on Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would aid ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security across the country.
