A fire outbreak on Thursday engulfed a multi-storey building housing a Polaris Bank branch on Broad Street, Lagos Island, Lagos State.

Videos shared on social media showed thick plumes of smoke rising from the building as residents, commuters, and business operators gathered around the area.

Emergency responders, including firefighters, swiftly arrived at the scene and were seen battling the blaze to prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

The cause of the fire had not been determined as of the time of this report. Authorities were yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

No casualties had been reported at press time, while efforts to obtain comments from relevant emergency management agencies and government officials were ongoing.
