Several shops were destroyed on Friday after a fire outbreak engulfed Bode Market in the Molete area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

Officials of the Oyo State Fire Service were promptly deployed to the scene and were seen battling the blaze to prevent it from spreading to other parts of the market.

As of press time, authorities had not confirmed the number of shops affected, while the extent of losses suffered by traders remained unknown.

The incident comes just weeks after a similar fire outbreak was recorded at Dugbe Market in Ibadan, raising concerns over recurring market fires in the state.
