The Ekiti State Police Command has announced the rescue of worshippers who were abducted during an attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eda-Oniyo, on April 28.

The command made the disclosure in a statement issued on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti by its Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu.

According to the statement, the victims were rescued through sustained intelligence-led operations and collaborative efforts involving the Nigeria Police Force, the military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and the Ekiti State Government.

The police said the rescued victims had been taken to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment to assess their health condition and ensure they receive appropriate care.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye, commended the commitment, professionalism, and cooperation demonstrated by all security stakeholders, noting that their joint efforts were instrumental to the successful rescue operation.

Adegoroye also lauded the Ekiti State Government, led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for its continued support to security agencies, describing it as a key factor in the success of the mission.

He further appreciated residents of the state for their vigilance, cooperation, and timely provision of credible information to security agencies.

The police commissioner disclosed that efforts had been intensified to track down and arrest those responsible for the abduction.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency number, 08062335577.
