United States Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have welcomed their fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neel Vance.

Vance, 41, announced that Alec was born on Sunday, July 19, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The vice president shared the joyful news in a statement posted on social media and jointly signed by him and his wife.

"We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother," the couple said.

The newborn joins his three older siblings—Ewan, 9, Vivek, 6, and Mirabel, 4.

Alec's birth is a historic milestone, making him the first child born to a sitting U.S. vice president in more than 150 years. The last vice president to welcome a child while in office was Schuyler Colfax, whose son, Schuyler Colfax III, was born in 1870 during his tenure under President Ulysses S. Grant.

JD Vance, an Ohio native, and Usha Vance, 40, the daughter of Indian immigrants, met while studying at Yale Law School, where they both graduated in 2013. The couple has since built a family of six with the arrival of their newest son.
