The Federal Government has commenced applications for its newly launched digital device financing initiative, Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, aimed at helping Nigerians purchase laptops, smartphones, tablets and other digital devices through affordable consumer credit.

The initiative is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

The programme was officially unveiled on Tuesday in Abuja by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani alongside the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CREDICORP, Uzoma Nwagba.

Under the scheme, eligible Nigerians can acquire digital devices through flexible repayment plans instead of making full upfront payments. The programme will initially prioritise locally assembled laptops as part of efforts to promote local manufacturing.

How to Apply

Interested applicants can apply by following these steps:

Visit the official C.L.I.C.K.D. portal at credicorp.ng/clickd.

Click on the "I'm Interested" button to open the application form.

Complete the required information, including:

State of residence (all 36 states and the FCT are covered).

Employment status, selecting from Salary Earner, Freelancer/Self-Employed, Business Owner, Student, Job Seeker or NYSC Member.

Monthly income (optional), ranging from below ₦100,000 to above ₦1 million.

Digital talent programme, where applicable, including 3MTT, Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa, Genesys Tech Hub or Other.

Type of device required, such as a laptop, smartphone, tablet or other digital device.

Purpose of the device, including learning, professional certification, remote work, freelancing, business growth, education, software development, content creation or other uses.

How you heard about the programme, including 3MTT, social media, family or friends, school, employer, Google search or other sources.

Confirm that the information provided is accurate, agree to be contacted by CREDICORP, and consent to the use of your information for eligibility assessment.

Submit the completed application.

Who Can Apply?

For now, the programme is being rolled out as a 1,000-laptop pilot exclusively for beneficiaries of the Federal Government's Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme.

According to CREDICORP Managing Director, Uzoma Nwagba, the rollout has already commenced in Abuja, where 77 beneficiaries received their devices. The remaining laptops will be distributed to qualified beneficiaries across other states in phases.

Although the application portal also includes participants from programmes such as Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX Africa, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa and Genesys Tech Hub, CREDICORP has not officially confirmed that members of these programmes are eligible for the current pilot phase. So far, the agency has only announced 3MTT fellows as beneficiaries of the initial 1,000-laptop rollout.

CREDICORP is also yet to announce the interest rates, repayment duration and down-payment requirements for the C.L.I.C.K.D. loans. These details are expected to be released as the programme expands to more Nigerians.
