The two surveillance aircraft acquired by the Oyo State Government have arrived in Ibadan, marking the fulfilment of the administration’s earlier commitment to take delivery of the aircraft before the end of July.

The state Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, who disclosed this in a statement, said the arrival of the aircraft represents another significant step in the government’s efforts to enhance security operations through improved intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance.

Oyelade recalled that the Oyo State Government announced the acquisition of the two surveillance aircraft on July 8, 2025, as part of measures to boost the capacity of security agencies in addressing emerging security challenges across the state.

He stated that Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier confirmed on July 18, 2026, that the aircraft had arrived in Nigeria and were undergoing reassembly at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos.

According to the Commissioner, the development comes about a week after the state government assured residents that the aircraft would be brought into Oyo before the end of July, adding that the arrival has now fulfilled that promise.

The aircraft are expected to provide additional support to security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps and other relevant formations, by improving surveillance capabilities, monitoring criminal activities, and enhancing rapid response efforts across the state.

Oyelade further disclosed that Governor Makinde is at the airport to receive the two aircraft.
