The Abia State Government has approved financial assistance for the medical treatment of Nollywood veteran actress Ngozi Nwosu, following her public appeal for help to undergo major surgeries.

Governor Alex Otti approved the payment for the first phase of the actress's medical bills after she disclosed that she urgently needed financial support for the life-saving procedures.

The governor's Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, announced the development in a post on his X account. He noted that while the state government's intervention covers the initial phase of the treatment, additional funds are still required to complete her medical care.

"His Excellency @alexottiofr has just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of her medical bills. While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible. On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader. Ndewo sir," Justice wrote.

The intervention has been widely welcomed by members of the entertainment industry, who described it as a timely gesture and urged well-meaning Nigerians to continue supporting the veteran actress as she undergoes further medical treatment.
