Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted to the arrival of top All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and more than 10 governors in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and several governors elected on the platform of the ruling party are in Osun State for the APC’s mega campaign rally.

The party’s leadership has vowed to mobilise its machinery to secure victory in the August 15 election.

Among the governors who arrived in Osogbo on Wednesday night were Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State and Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

The APC mobilisation was welcomed by Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former governor of Osun State, who posted about the arrival of the party’s bigwigs on his official X account.

Davido, however, reacted to Oyetola’s post, dismissing the APC’s chances of winning the election.

The singer wrote: “If you like gather Jesus 12 disciples o ma LULE for the 3rd time.”

Davido’s comment appeared to mock the APC’s mobilisation, suggesting that even an extensive deployment of party leaders and governors would not guarantee victory.

The singer’s interest in the election is also linked to his relationship with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, his uncle, who is seeking re-election on the Accord Party platform.

The August 15 poll has emerged as a closely watched contest, with the major political parties stepping up their campaigns and deploying top officials to Osun ahead of the election.
