The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, for allegedly attempting to kill her husband by poisoning his food in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 12, 2026, barely 40 days after the suspect’s marriage to the victim.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the suspect allegedly mixed a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal.
Habib said the command received a distress call from an anonymous woman residing in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi at about 7:40 p.m., prompting officers from the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, to respond.
He said the victim was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is receiving treatment and is currently in stable condition.
The police spokesman said the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and allegedly confessed during interrogation.
He added that investigators recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the poisonous substance, as well as remnants of the meal, which were preserved as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
