Blessing Ezeokafor, daughter of kidnapped businessman and Chairman of Jezco Group, Chief Joseph Ezeokafor, has accused her younger brother, Eberechukwu Ezeokafor, popularly known as Jowizaza, of contributing to their father’s current predicament.

Blessing, who is reportedly the victim’s first child, alleged that Jowizaza’s flamboyant lifestyle and display of wealth on social media created the impression that the family was extremely wealthy, prompting the kidnappers to increase their ransom demand from N700 million to N1.5 billion.

In a series of emotional posts on social media, she claimed that the family was not as wealthy as her brother portrayed, insisting that they were already burdened with huge debts.

She also accused Jowizaza of running their father’s company aground before he was removed as a director and placed on a monthly salary of N1 million.

Blessing questioned how her brother could have agreed to pay N700 million ransom when, according to her, he did not have up to N100 million in liquid cash.

“Why Jowizaza, my brother? You are the cause of this madness. Social media noise, when we don’t have that money. You use audio money to make hoodlums think the money is available,” she wrote.

She further alleged that the family owed FCMB about N40 billion, alongside other debts, and warned that her brother’s public display of wealth had created a dangerous perception among the kidnappers.

“Fake life, claiming what we don’t have. You are owing banks FCMB N40 billion, no hope to pay. You are owing Union Bank, you are struggling... Now your madness has made people think we have money,” she added.

Appealing directly to the kidnappers, Blessing said the family lacked the financial capacity to meet their demands.

“Kidnappers, they don’t have money, it is audio money. Please leave my dad alone. Please release him, they are swimming in debt,” she pleaded.

Defending her decision to speak publicly, she said remaining silent could give the kidnappers the impression that the family had the ransom but was deliberately refusing to pay.

“At this point, I need to talk so they can be talking reasonably of what we can provide. Dad needs his medication and I don’t want anything to happen to my dad,” she said.

Blessing also described Jowizaza’s decision to showcase the family’s wealth on social media as a major mistake and warned bloggers against exaggerating the family’s financial status.

The businessman was reportedly abducted in the early hours of August 4, 2026, after leaving his residence for a prayer ground in Awka, Anambra State.

The kidnappers were initially reported to have demanded N700 million before allegedly raising the ransom to N1.5 billion.
