Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected in Ogun State today, Tuesday, to launch the zonal National Community Food Bank programme aimed at supporting vulnerable and indigent residents.

The programme, which will commence at Makun in Sagamu, will feature the distribution of food items to vulnerable households and is expected to draw key stakeholders from across the country.

The initiative is part of efforts to strengthen the Federal Government’s social intervention programmes and provide assistance to Nigerians facing economic hardship.

Senator Tinubu is expected to lead the food distribution exercise and participate in other activities scheduled as part of her visit.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the First Lady will also commission the 108-unit Muhammadu Buhari Estate in Kobape, Abeokuta.

She is also expected to commission the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence, a 250-bed ultra-modern hospital in Abeokuta designed to provide advanced healthcare services to residents of Ogun State and neighbouring communities.

As part of her itinerary, Senator Tinubu will engage with major stakeholders at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta, the state capital.

The visit is expected to deepen collaboration between the Federal and Ogun State Governments in the areas of social welfare, housing and healthcare delivery, while reaffirming their shared commitment to improving the quality of life of Nigerians.
