The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he would be among the first politicians to face the consequences if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election.

Wike made the statement on Wednesday during a media parley with selected journalists, where he reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s re-election.

The former Rivers State governor said he expected opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, to come after him if Tinubu is defeated.

“I will be the first politician that I think they will come after. I will be the first politician. I know they will come for my head,” Wike said.

He acknowledged the political risks associated with his position but maintained that he would not be intimidated by criticism or shy away from confronting opponents of the President.

Wike said securing Tinubu’s victory in 2027 remained his overriding political priority, regardless of the personal consequences.

“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the President’s reelection. When I am eating, I think about the President’s reelection. Everything I am doing now is about the President’s reelection,” he stated.

The FCT minister also dismissed criticisms of his support for Tinubu, saying he had been subjected to intense attacks and vilification because of his political stance.

Despite the backlash, Wike insisted that he had no regrets about his decision to support the President’s re-election bid.
