The Federal Government has moved the evaluation and authentication of academic certificates online, eliminating the need for applicants to visit the Federal Ministry of Education physically to access the service.

The ministry announced the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

According to the statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, said applicants can now complete the evaluation and authentication of their academic certificates through the ministry’s dedicated online platform.

Alausa described the initiative as a major step in the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda, saying it aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The ministry said the new system is aimed at reducing delays in processing applications while making the service more accessible to Nigerians and applicants residing outside the country.

It added that the platform would also enable institutions, employers and other relevant organisations to verify academic qualifications through a more structured and efficient process.

The development is expected to streamline certificate verification, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks and improve access to the service both within Nigeria and abroad.
