The Nigerian Navy has opened its 2026 recruitment exercise for Batch 39 of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply.

The recruitment exercise is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with applicants expected to register online through the Navy’s official recruitment portal.

The Navy, in its recruitment guidelines, said the exercise is free and warned prospective applicants against paying money to individuals or agents claiming to have connections within the recruitment process.

“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the exercise,” the Navy stated.

To qualify, applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, possess a National Identification Number (NIN), and satisfy the prescribed educational, age, physical and medical requirements.

Candidates must also be medically, psychologically and physically fit and must not have any previous criminal conviction. The minimum height requirement is 1.69 metres for male applicants and 1.65 metres for females.

For candidates applying with O’Level qualifications, applicants must be aged between 18 and 22 years as of December 31, 2026, and possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in no more than two sittings.

The recruitment guidelines also outline specific age and qualification requirements for applicants holding OND or NCE certificates, tradesmen, candidates in medical-related fields and sportsmen and women.

Applicants who successfully complete the online registration are required to print their acknowledgement slip, parent or guardian consent form, Local Government attestation form and guarantor’s certification form.

The Navy said details of the recruitment examination, including the date and venues, would be communicated to eligible applicants at a later date.

It urged interested Nigerians to visit the official recruitment portal for detailed information when registration opens on October 2.

The Navy further cautioned applicants against submitting multiple applications, stating that only one valid application is permitted and multiple submissions will result in disqualification.

It also stressed that applicants must be able to communicate in basic English, noting that failure to meet the requirement could lead to disqualification at any stage of the recruitment exercise.
