President Bola Tinubu has concluded his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Lagos, where he is expected to engage political leaders and associates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu departed Paris on Tuesday and is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, later in the day.
His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The President left Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation, spending one week in London before proceeding to Paris.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu decided to return through Lagos to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, who was widely regarded as the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and played a significant role in Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
The President is also expected to attend the October 1 premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
During his stay in Lagos, Tinubu will hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates as part of preparations for the 2027 elections.
“While in Lagos, President Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 elections,” Onanuga said.
While in France, the President held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and met with several business leaders.
Among those he met was Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose business interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
Tinubu also met with the Chairman of First Holdings, Femi Otedola, on Monday.
Last week, the President witnessed the signing of an MoU between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and the establishment of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.
The Presidency said DP World plans to invest $7 billion in the proposed seaport and economic zone.
Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements in Lagos.
