The Nigeria Police Force has arrested and released former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, on bail following about one hour of interrogation over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
Okorocha was reportedly arrested in Abuja on Monday night, October 12, 2026, and released after questioning by police operatives.
The spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, CSP Aniete Iniedu, confirmed the development to Channels Television, stating that the former governor had been granted bail.
Iniedu disclosed that Okorocha was directed to return to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday for further interrogation as investigations into the allegations continue.
The arrest reportedly followed his failure to honour earlier police invitations concerning the case.
According to reports, the former governor was initially invited to the Force Headquarters on September 2. However, the date was rescheduled to September 8 following a request by his lawyers.
Okorocha reportedly failed to honour the rescheduled invitation, a development that preceded his arrest on Monday night.
The police are continuing their investigation into the allegations, with further questioning expected as the case progresses.
