News reaching the desk of CEOAFRICA.com from New Delhi, the capital of India is that four men have been found guilty of the fatal gang rape of a student last December.
The 23-year-old Physiotherapy student was brutally assaulted on a bus and she died two weeks later.
Her death sparked wild protest across India in a wave of unprecedented anger. This was followed by the introduction of tough mew laws to punish sexual offences as a way of curbing incessant rise in rape cases across the country.
The accused, Mukesh Singh, Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur and Pawan Gupta earlier denied rape and murder charges leveled against them.
The four men are expected to be sentenced on Wednesday as they face the death penalty over the attack after being found guilty of rape, murder and destruction of evidence.
Meanwhile, lawyers of the three of the men said they would appeal against the convictions.
