From Egypt, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that six soldiers were killed in a double suicide bomb attack at the Sinai Peninsula, while another 10 soldiers and seven civilians were seriously injured by another blast outside the military intelligence headquarters in Rafah and at a nearby checkpoint.
According to military spokesman, the attack was launched by "Islamist terrorist elements.”
On Tuesday, troops backed by helicopter gunships raided militant hideouts in the villages of al-Mahdiya and Naga Shabana, south of Rafah, killing nine people, arresting 10 others and seizing weapons and ammunition, military officials said.
Cases of bombast started last week when a failed assassination attempt on the interior minister destroyed many valuables and wounded security officials after which al-Qaida-inspired group based in Sinai said it was behind the bombing that targeted Mohammed Ibrahim.
