The leader of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged that sustainable peace should be encouraged in Nigeria and across its Universities.

The monarch made this remark when the Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, paid him a courtesy visit in his palace.

Sustainable Peace, according to the monarch, remains crucial to the realization of Nigeria’s scientific, technological and socio-economic development.

“Without peace, there won’t be any chance for development, and this will be disastrous for Nigeria and the world,’’ the sultan said.

While charging for peace and tranquility in Nigerian Universities, the Sultan said it would impact positively on the training of quality manpower for the nation.

“If this is not ensured, the opposite will be the case and the county would continue to lag behind.’’

In his reply, Mustapha said the visit was aimed at congratulating the monarch on his 57th birthday. “We are here to pay our respect to you as our chancellor and a committed leader whose penchant for sustainable peace and unity in Nigeria is unparalleled,’’ Mustapha said
