The announcement of the xenophobic attacks in South Africa has heralded many comments online and many Nigerian celebrities recently shared their grief, and disappointments, thereby condemning South Africans for this evil act.
Some of the celebrities like Innocent Idibia also known as 2face said “I know so many cool south Africans. These guys have embarrassed them all.
Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde also expressed through her twitter handle thus “I Never thought a day would come when this would happen! Dear South Africa , we fought with you during apartheid . You fled and lived with us. We shed blood for your freedom. Why? You of all people should know how this feels. Why fought and Killed people who really cared about you. Dear South Africa , why add this to your past glorious history. Nigeria stand up now and take care of your citizens worldwide
Also speaking against the attacks, Nigerian musician, Waje voiced out on instagram. The end times. Evil is being justified everyday. If you ask any African person why he or she is proud of Africa, he or she will say it’s because of her unique colour and culture. They say that the colour they possess cannot be purchased by any one. They also say that they have been created in a special way” she said.
Waje futher urged all Africans to reunite saying “All Africans are proud of their culture and their colour but right now I see no colour or culture.I see hate, anger, blood, venom, who will remind us? Remind us that Africa is not a country but a continent, and the beauty of our colour and culture is in our diversity.
In the same vein, Banky W remembered the olden days, and sadly posted on twitter. In Africa, we have battled/survived slavery, racism & apartheid. Yet some now see it fit to kill innocent people just because they’re from a different tribe, region or country. Our forefathers sacrificed and gave their lives so we could live in a free, fair society. We can’t afford to throw away everything they died for and descend to this level of inhumanity and wickedness. We are better than this. We are One Africa and One Human Race. Say NO to Xenophobia #Africa #SouthAfrica #Nigeria
