The Presidency has rejected insinuation that project implementation by the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration has stalled, due to the inability of the president to clinch a second term in office.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, on Sunday, on his Facebook account, said there was no truth in media reports suggesting that the administration had abandoned its projects, because it lost the March 28 presidential election.

Abati attached a three-minute video purportedly showing construction work ongoing at the Second Niger Bridge as evidence that the government had continued to meet its obligations to Nigerians, in spite of the loss at the presidential election.

The video, which had attracted 156 "likes" and 71 comments at the time of writing this report, showed the progress at the construction site, with workmen cleary seen and heard hammering on iron cast pillars.

Some of the workers heard talking in the video confirmed that they were working around the Atani and Oko sites, with one saying "many things have been said about the bridge and people say it is non-existent. But it is in existence and Goodluck is doing it."

The presidential spokesman also assured that work was ongoing on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, as well as the Abuja-Kaduna railways line, among others.

He thanked Nigerians for allowing Jonathan to serve them, as he expressed the hope that the transformation being witnessed under the current administration would continue under Buhari’s leadership from May 29.

Abati expressed Jonathan's commitment to service and sacrifice for Nigeria in whatever capacity he finds himself in future.

The Facebook post read: “Our projects have not been deserted as some reports give”.

“From Lagos-Ibadan Road to Abuja-Kaduna railways and Kashimbilla Dam, which are set for commissioning, we are still working for you.

“President Jonathan prays for the incoming administration led by General Buhari to achieve, even as we hope that this transformation continues.

“We thank you for letting us serve you."
