Global payments technology company VISA has pledged to continue to boost tourism and cross-border spend as part of its focus areas in Nigeria and the West African region.
CEOAFRICA gathered according to the statement of Kamra Siddiqi, newly appointed Group Executive for Visa’s CEMEA (Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa) region that this is in addition to its support for financial literacy and cashless economy in Nigeria.
According to Siddiqi, Visa is dedicated to increasing financial literacy among the unbanked through strategic partnerships and educational programmes, adding that in the past decade, Visa had helped bring financial literacy education to millions of people in more than 30 countries.
He explained that the motivation behind the recent highly successful Financial Literacy Challenge with the Co-Creation Hub was geared at stimulating the development of innovative web and mobile applications to teach money management skills and support the advancement of financial literacy in Nigeria.
He however stipulated that Visa is a strong supporter of the CBN’s cashless Lagos vision 2020 project, which aims at reducing the amount of physical cash circulating in the economy.
