The door appears finally shut against Daniel Amokachi as the Super Eagles assistant coach. Amokachi served as an assistant to Stephen Keshi in his first term but it appears very confirmed now that there won’t be a place for the former national team striker on the Eagles bench even as the Nigeria Football Federation delays the announcement of the assistants to Keshi under the current dispensation.

An AfricanFootball.com report states that Amokachi is favoured to take over as coach of Nigeria Premier League outfit FC Taraba.

It will, though not be his first time with a Nigerian club. He had handled Nasarawa United and Enyimba. He was also a coach of the Nigeria U23 national team. His former national teammate and close friend Tijjani Babangida is a consultant to Taraba.

‘The Bull’, as Amokachi was called in his playing days, was in Jalingo to watch the team draw 3-3 at home with Gabros on Sunday and a source inside the Taraba camp said the coach is coming in as the new technical adviser all things being equal.

“I heard it last week that Amokachi is coming to take over as our coach; he was here on Sunday to watch our game against Gabros. I think he will take over as the new technical adviser,” he said.

Last season, Ndubuisi Nduka was sacked as the club’s coach and his assistant, Tony Ogharanduku, has since been in charge of the team.

At the Super Falcons training, Courtney Dike and Liverpool striker, Asisat Oshoala, have arrived in camp on ahead of the World Cup in Canada. Dike arrived at 4am Tuesday morning, while Oshoala landed Monday night.

Dike, who plays for Oklahoma State University, was part of the silver-winning U20 Falconets to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada last year.

Dike said on arrival, “I feel super excited to be here because it’s been a while since I’ve been with these girls. I have grown a lot as a player, especially from the last U20 World Cup, so I am excited to bring my skills here and hopefully, help the team.

“It’s a huge honour being in the Super Falcons. The U20 experience was great; some of the players are still here and I am excited to play with them. I also relish the fact that I will be playing against the United States where I live.”

Oshoala is also full of expectations of going back to Canada.

“It’s good to be back with the team. I look forward to the World Cup in Canada to excel with my team. It feels really good,” Oshoala said.
