
Former National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, yesterday said he is backing the Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adesina for Africa Development Bank’s President, because of his impeccable record, which speaks volume to his credibility, sincerity and honesty.
Tukur, who is also the Nigeria Ambassador-At-Large and President, African Business Roundtable (ABR), said genuine African businessmen have gone through the official records, services and academic excellent qualifications of Dr. Adesina and found him, a fit and proper person for the position.
Tukur said that ABR, which is a creation of the African Development Bank (ADB) and a Major Partner in the management and administration of the ADB, support in its entirety and totality, the candidature of Adesina for the post of President of the ADB.
According to a statement he signed, Tukur said “Dr. Adesina’s impeccable records, humane character, business sense of humility and decorum, sagacity and unquantifiable business acumen places him as first among equals for the position of the President of African Development Bank (ADB).
“We as committed and genuine African businessmen have gone through the official records, services and academic excellent qualifications of Dr. Adesina and found him, a fit and proper person for the position of President of African Development Bank (ADB).”
The expiration of the tenure of the present President of ADB, which is about to expire created room for the election and appointment of a new President of the Bank.
To help actualize the economic dreams and objectives of the entire universe, World Bank had created institutions like the Asian Development Bank and the African Development Bank (ADB).
The Asian Development Bank has remained the heart and soul of the economic development and financial growth of Asian countries like China, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Taipei, Japan, amongst others.
While African Development Bank in her wisdom also to allow private individuals access loans and financial assistance from the ADB created the African Business Roundtable (ABR).
The major aim of the African Business Roundtable is to enable serious minded African Businessmen and Entrepreneurs access funds from the ADB outside the normal beurucratic principle of loaning money and giving financial aid to only African public sectors and governments.
