Jos—The President of Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, Rev. Dachollom Datiri has lamented the recent attacks in parts of Plateau State which have claimed the lives of two of the church’s pastors and many of its members and urged security agencies to rise to the occasion by routing terrorists in the state.

Datiri who spoke at the COCIN headquarters in Jos, the state capital during its 88th General Church Council also urged the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, rtd, to keep to his promise of stamping out corruption in the country.

Congratulating Bahari and others who won various positions in the recently held general elections, he asked the incoming administration not the discard the recommendations of last National Conference on restructuring of the country for peace to reign.

Datiri further urged the church not to mentor pastors for effective discharge of duties just as he asked such pastors to imbibe the culture of writing their wills so they don’t leave their families stranded in the case of death.

According to him, “Terrorism and insurgency have continued unabated in this country… We have suffered heavy losses in terms of human lives and property including two of our pastors and many members. The terrorists are doing this with impunity.

“We congratulate the Nigerian Army over the successes they are currently registering and encourage them to press on until the dreaded extremist sect is wiped off. We hope the incoming regime will make good its promise to end insurgency in Nigeria.”
