Auto Crash: Ex-Kogi Gov, 3 Others Injured

Former Kogi State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, escaped death by whisker over the weekend when his convoy rammed into a broken down vehicle at Ochadamu junction in Ofu local government Area of Kogi State.

He sustained injuries but three of his security details were fatally wounded.

The ex-governor was returning from the marriage ceremony of Hon. Ali Aju, commissioner for budget and planning, at Idrisu in Omala local government area of the state when the incident occurred.

According to an eyewitness, the former governor was being driven at high speed in his Prado jeep when the front wheel pulled out, and the car rammed into a parked car, with the Hilux van carrying his security men crashing into it wounding all the occupants.

The eyewitness said the three security men who sustained various degrees of injuries were rushed to an undisclosed hospital at Ochadamu while the former governor is recuperating in an undisclosed hospital in Lokoja.

He added that the two vehicles somersaulted several times and were badly damaged, but they had been towed to an undisclosed destination before our reporter got to the scene.

When a call was put to the the public relations officer of the Federal Roads Safety Corps, he said he was unaware of the incident.
