The Comptroller-General of Immigration, David Parradang, has cleared the air on the news making the rounds on the token fees payable for Nigerian Visa, blaming it on the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) dormant website.

Parradang made the clarification in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO), NIS, Chukwuemeka Obuah.

He said the story, said to have emanated from the NIS website, was originally reported by a national daily of May 2015, and followed by the renowned blogger, Linda Ikeji on same day was obsolete.

"We wish to admit that the NIS website has been dormant for some time, and information therein may not be very reliable", he noted.

Parradang added that  the NIS in its bid to deliver a world class service to Nigerians and friends of Nigeria has deployed services of a professional web designer and manager to update the dormant website and make it interactive.

"The Service regrets the misleading information as contained on the website, and will do everything to ensure the on-going efforts to revamp the website is completed in good time", he assured.

Be that as it may, he said, the Nigerian visa policy is guided by the principle of reciprocity.

The Immigration boss clarified that the Nigerian visa fee or tariff is based on fees charged Nigerians and vice versa.

For the avoidance of doubt, he said, the attached is the current fees payable for Nigerian Visa by nationals of various countries.
