A special inter-religious prayer has been held for the realisation of Senator Bukola Saraki's ambition of becoming the Senate President of the eighth National Assembly.

The prayer session was organised in Iseyin, Oyo State, by  EbediFrontliners,   a socio-cultural group led by Mr Rahamon Abiola.

Mr Abiola said in Ibadan on Monday that it was pertinent for all forward-looking Nigerians to look for competence rather than political expedience in picking people for political posts.

He said the group represented the interest of the community as whole and traced the history of the late Dr Olusola Saraki, the father of the senator, to Iseyin.

The deceased politician’s mother hailed from Iseyin and he and his senate-president-to-be son did not severe the cord of ascendancy till date, according to Mr Abiola.

Meanwhile, Mr Abiola has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently look into the completion of the long-abandoned Ikere George Dam.

He also called for the establishment of a federal polytechnic in the area to create jobs for the youths in the community.
